What happens if employers are found to have abused the Furlough scheme?

Since the introduction of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) in March 2020, many employers have utilised the CJRS and have placed their staff on furlough. The CJRS was introduced by the government with the intention to avoid redundancies by alleviating pressure on employers to continue paying wages in full during the crisis period.
