An update on BREXIT and employment law

Aside from the long term ramifications of COVID 19, the country faces another massive change as we leave the European Union after 40 plus years of membership on 31 December  2020.  European case law has had a massive influence on interpreting UK employment rights particularly in the areas such as working time, collective redundancies and the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations.  What happens to UK employment law at the end of the transition period is therefore important for employers and businesses generally.  The good news in the short term is probably not a lot since the Government has indicated that after the transition period, existing EU based legislation will continue to apply in domestic law.
