Robotics in the Workplace

According to the survey by the International Federation for Robotics, historically Britain has the fewest robots in manufacturing in Europe with just 85 robots per 10,000 employees compared with an average of 106 across Europe.  However, the times are definitely changing as more and more manufacturers, particularly in the car and food sectors, seek to remedy staff shortages by increasing the use of robots.  According to the Office of National statistics some 1.5 million jobs in the UK are at risk of having some tasks automated with a focus according to then Business Minister, Andrew Stephenson, on jobs that are “dangerous, dirty or dull “. The increasing use of robots in the workplace will have several implications for employers.
